We are glad to inform you that the new Parador of Santo Estevo-Luintra has been opened the 2nd August 2004.
The new Parador is located in the Benedictine Monastery of Santo Estevo de Rivas de Sil, in Nogueira de Ramuín (Ourense), in the heart of the Ribeira Sacra, natural space of splenderous beauty where the Miño and Sil rivers join. This region is popularly known as cradle of "Afiadores e Paragüeiros" (knife-grinders and umbrella makers), it was one of the monastic reference at Galicia and nowadays it is one of the touristic reference of Galicia dedicated to river routes.
The Monastery, one of the oldest of Galicia, was founded in the VI century. The original building is Romanic and it is remarkable its Baroque façade, the monumental staircase and the three cloisters: "de la Portería", "la Cocina" and "de los Obispos", this last one is the only galician cloister, together with the cloister of the Tui Cathedral, that is preserved according to the primitive construction.
This Parador is 4 stars category (pending of approval) and will have 74 rooms, conference rooms, bar, restaurant, heating, air conditioning, telephone in the rooms, television, safe, minibar, garage and currency exchange. It accepts credit cards and no animals are allowed.
